Charles Lee to Honor Service and Leadership of Backlund at Banquet

In honoring the service of the Republican public servant, Lee gives a glimpse of the bi-partisan Leadership he will bring to the Oregon Legislature.

State Representative candidate Charles Lee will recognize the public service career former State Representative Vic Backlund (R-Keizer) during a banquet on Thursday, August 24 at the Wittenberg Inn in Keizer.

“Former Representative Backlund has been an outstanding leader in our community and has been a tremendous asset to the Oregon Legislature with his leadership, character, and commitment to public service,” said Lee.

The event will feature a reflection on the Legislative career of Backlund and allow the public and invited guests an opportunity to pay tribute to him.

“I am honored to take part in this opportunity as I was honored to serve the community,” said Backlund. “This event showcases Charles’ ability to work in a manner of bi-partisanship and we need this type of leadership at the State Capitol.”

Backlund was a three-term Republican State Representative from 1999-2005 and represented Keizer, St. Paul, and Newberg. He was a teacher and coach for over 30 years at McNary High School before being elected State Representative.

Lee is a two-term city councilor in Keizer and President of Blanchet Catholic School in Salem. He has been a teacher and education administrator for over 30 years. He is running for State Representative in District 25 to represent Newberg, St. Paul, and Keizer.
